Sheep Rescue!

Last Updated on October 5, 2009

this weekend we were guiding a group from cardiff uni up the waterfall walks of the brecon beacons, on the way to one of the highest falls we spotted 3 sheep stuck on a high ledge having jumped or fallen.

instructors chris, carl, mike, paul and myself initiated a imprompy rescue. the first came up easily as chris was lowered by carl over the edge to the sheep, he second jumped onto another ledge some 10 foot down the 80 foot cliff and chris managed to rope up the 3rd and haul it up to him and the waiting crowd at the top, all very precarious as all we had was a walkers confidence rope and a couple of karabiners.

chris then climbed down to the sheep that had jumped down, unfortunatly it decied to jump for the river below. it was out of site for a while and the worst feared until it was spotted happlil munching grass on the river bank! a jump of over 60 feet!!! into fast flowing water!

we have some video on you tube coming up but here a few photos!
